"A space that reaches people who don't want to be seen, but deserve to have a place where they can simply be."
Taj Shabad
When I offered yoga for homeless women for the first time, I came with an inner feeling of elation. I was looking forward to the meeting, I was excited, curious – and to be honest, I was also convinced that the women would be grateful.
I thought: You can arrive, get out of your everyday life for a moment and into my space. Into my world of tranquillity.
But it became clear after the first hour: They didn’t enter my room – I entered theirs.
With all my ideas of what relaxation and self-care should feel like.
After the second hour, only a few women came. Not because the offer was bad. But because the reality of their lives had completely different priorities: a lack of basic needs, no safe place to retreat, life decisions that were simply not compatible with a yoga mat.
It was a painful but healing moment.
I began to learn that it is not my job to judge life decisions. That true help sometimes lies in acknowledging – not in offering.
Later, I led a laughter yoga seminar for people in difficult life situations. The young participants in particular reacted with rejection – not because they didn’t want to laugh, but because they didn’t know, whether they were allowed to be seen doing so.
In social settings, it often seems ridiculous to just relax like that. And yes – I used to be the same.
I met people who had nothing against yoga – but no space, no energy, no time.
Shift work. Children. Anxiety. Loneliness. Money worries.
So an idea matured in me:
It must be possible to create a digital space that is not overwhelming. That does not demand. That is there – just like that.
A place to listen. Without registration. Without rating. Without tracking.
A space that does not demand, does not evaluate – and does not look back.
For people who otherwise have no access – but still have a right to relaxation. Or for them, who don’t want to be seen – but deserve a place where they can simply be.
I knew immediately: my heart side three-soul crystal was out of the question.
Because here I have integrated tools such as Google Analytics, YouTube, Instagram Feed and Google Maps – all tools that, technically speaking listen inas soon as someone enters the site.
So I built my own page:
listenonly.com
A digital project in silence.
No cookies. No tracking. No analysis.
Technically, the page is as light as half a smartphone photo.
Really. Less than 500 KB – that’s almost nothing compared to modern websites.
The content is delivered to your device by my website provider and a data-saving CDN (Content Delivery Network). But I don’t know myself whether you are accessing it.
I don’t see any click numbers, no countries, no times.
All I know is that when you’re there, you’re there – completely free.
On this page you will find four audios:
for relaxation,
for a good sleep,
for silence,
and for those moments when you can hardly stand yourself.
A few pulses of light in colorsdelicate and without expectation.
And only if you write to me voluntarily via the form will I know that you were there.
Listening only. Without the obligation to answer. Without observation.
A quiet place, perhaps just when you need it.
